Fama: Agrobazaar online records sales transactions worth RM12 million

GEORGE TOWN: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), through the Agrobazaar Online (ABO) portal, has recorded sales transactions worth RM12 million from 2014 until August this year.

Fama director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri said 8,703 entrepreneurs and 26,854 units of product stocks had been registered on the portal during the same period.

"The empowerment of online marketing is crucial considering that after the Covid-19 pandemic, most consumers have changed their shopping method to using e-commerce portals to buy essential goods.

"The results can be seen when the sales value recorded on the ABO portal increased by 226 per cent to RM1.8 million as of August compared to the previous year. The number of viewers also increased to 1.16 million this year, compared to some 500,000 last year," he told reporters here today (September 06). He was met after the ABO 3.0 portal launching ceremony, which also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Fama and Fiuu (Razer Merchant Services Sdn Bhd).

Abdul Rashid said besides focusing on marketing agro-food products on the ABO portal, Fama also established strategic partnerships with private and well-known e-commerce portals with a high number of users.

"Today, Fama, together with Fiuu (Razer Merchant Services Sdn Bhd), have established a strategic partnership in an effort to promote cashless transactions.

"It also focuses on the various payment methods that can facilitate consumers, such as online banking, debit/credit cards and e-wallets. In addition, payments to entrepreneurs can be made quickly within the single system provided," he said.

He added that the collaborative effort was necessary for the ABO portal to provide a more systematic financial system that meets the needs of entrepreneurs and facilitates consumer purchases. --BERNAMA
